The short version
LifeLoop is built local-first. Your photos, projects, and settings
stay on your device. We run no servers, require no account, and do not
sell or share your data.
What data the app processes
- Photos and project data (photos you capture or
import, project names, notes, streaks, settings): stored only on your
device in the app's private storage. Deleting a project or
uninstalling the app deletes this data.
- Face and gesture detection: face alignment runs
entirely on your device using Google ML Kit's on-device models; images are
never uploaded. While the camera is open, the app additionally analyses
body pose to recognise the shutter gesture ("raise your hand") — also
on-device only, never stored, never uploaded. We build no biometric
templates and identify no one; the only purpose is image alignment.
Note: Google's ML Kit SDK sends technical metrics to Google for
diagnostics and usage analytics (including device and app information,
installation identifiers, latencies and error codes). The recipient is
Google Ireland/LLC; see Google's ML Kit data disclosure for details.
- Optional Google Drive backup: if you connect
Google Drive, backups are written (encrypted in transit) to your own
Google account's app-data folder. We never see this data; Google's
privacy policy applies. You can delete backups in the app or revoke
access at myaccount.google.com.
- Notifications: daily reminders are scheduled on
your device; no data leaves it.
- Purchases (when available): payment is handled by
Google Play / the App Store. We receive no payment details; the app
stores only whether Pro is unlocked.
- Usage statistics (only with your consent): we ask
you on first launch. Only after you agree does the app record event
counts (e.g. "a video was rendered") via Aptabase (EU-hosted) — no
advertising IDs, no device IDs, no cross-app tracking, and nothing from
your photos, project names or notes. Aptabase derives a pseudonymous
identifier from your IP address, user agent and a daily-rotating random
value; we cannot link it to you. Processor: Aptabase (EU). Withdraw
anytime in Settings → Data & Privacy — without consent
nothing is transmitted.
- Crash reports (same consent): if the app crashes or
hits an unexpected error, we send a technical report (error message,
stack trace, device model, app version) to Sentry (EU region) —
processor: Functional Software, Inc. Screenshots and screen contents are
explicitly excluded, and file paths to your photos are stripped before
sending. The same switch turns this off.
What we do NOT do
No accounts. No ads. No sale of data. No advertising or cross-app
tracking SDKs. No upload of your photos to our or anyone's servers — not
even into an automatic operating-system backup: we explicitly disabled
Android Auto Backup for this app so your photos and the app database
cannot leave the device unasked.
The third-party services we use are limited to those named above:
Google Play (purchases), Google Drive (only if you connect it), Google
ML Kit (on-device analysis, with diagnostic metrics to Google), Aptabase
(statistics) and Sentry (crash reports) — the last two only after you
consent.
Legal bases (GDPR)
- Local processing of your content: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (providing the
functionality you request).
- Optional Drive backup: Art. 6(1)(a)/(b) GDPR (you actively connect
your own account).
- Usage statistics and crash reports: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (your consent)
together with § 25(1) TDDDG. Nothing is transmitted without consent, and
you may withdraw it at any time without giving reasons
(Settings → Data & Privacy). Withdrawal takes effect
immediately and does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out
beforehand.
Your rights
Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and
objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR) — since your data lives on your device,
you exercise most of these directly in the app (delete projects or
backups, uninstall). For anything else contact
schweizerlemail@gmail.com. You may also lodge a complaint with a
supervisory authority.
Changes
We will update this policy when the app's data practices change and
note the new effective date here.
